"Posing Orang Portrait" by Diann Fisher Close-up of this very interactive female Orang.
This is a female Bornean Orangutan mother (Pongo Pygmaeus) also known as "the person of the forest" as translated by Malay/Indonesian's. Orang's are so intelligent. I could watch them and photograph them all day long. They each have such different personalities, but are very interactive and social, clearly making eye contact and posing. Fruit comprises their most important element of diet, but vegetation, bark, honey, insects and bird eggs are also part of their selection in the wild. The Orangutan is considered critically endangered (Wikipedia)
